Today we had a great family day. It was in the 70s and sunny so we decided to go to Devil's Lake to picnic and hike, the first hike of the season. We had a blast.
Here are Poppa and F throwing rocks in the lake:
A picnic break:
We were pleasantly surprised that both kids love to hike and were up for a bit of a challenge. We heard not a whine the entire hike.
Hiking up the hill, F did amazingly well. He's got endurance and loved climbing the rock steps to the top:
And when we got to the top, the view was awesome:
J the natural climber and adventurer took a moment to grin at the camera:
Stepping back to last weekend and Easter. We had our first Easter with good weather. Sunny enough for the egg hunt to happen outside!
But first, the Easter Bunny was kind and the kids were excited to find baskets waiting for them in the morning.
When we went outside for the easter egg hunt, J was ready to go and knew exactly what to do:
F on the other hand had to be coached, and he couldn't decide whether to hunt for eggs or visit the dog next door:
Once they found all the eggs, it was all about the food:
We had a great visit with Gma JuJu and Gpa Mike. It's taken the kids a week to get used to not having them here. The kids send their love!
So, I also have a bit of my own story this time. I was working late one night last week and I got a phone call from reception at close to 7 pm. My first thought was something happened to the kids. But no, the receptionist asked if I could do a demo because one of our executive managers was with a group of people and they'd like to see some of our products. I'm thinking, this late in the evening, and who will I be demoing to? I walk over and get introduced on a first name basis. We move to a conference room and I start to show them our software. The discussion leads to this and that and we get on the topic of medical research studies, agent orange, the vietnam war, etc. The guests leave after about 20 minutes and I asked the receptionist to let me know if she ever finds out who the group was. When I get back to my desk the receptionist calls and says, You will not believe who you just demoed to... drum roll... Bob Woodward! Never thought that my job would allow me to meet such a well known author and journalist like him!

April Fun
Today is one of the first days that is warm and not so windy. It's gorgeous!
Papa decided to do some gardening today, and the kids were very interested in helping...in their PJs:
J has been on spring break so I stayed home a couple of days with her and took her to the zoo with her friends big A & little A. J & big A are the best of friends and are so great together. Here are some fun pics from that adventure:
I think this is the coolest climbing toy ever...though I may be biased since I have a fondness for trains:
And here is some silliness. F loves nutella which is high in fat (to put on those calories per doctor's orders) and oh, so nummy:
A moment of sibling cooperation and snuggles:
